Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow called on Asian nations on Wednesday to abandon geopolitical rivalry in favour of shared prosperity, saying the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has fundamentally changed the nature of competitiveness.
Speaking at Nikkei's Future of Asia forum in Tokyo, Sihasak said Asian countries should move from competing for dominance to co-creating prosperity.
His remarks came as Southeast Asian nations face growing pressure to navigate relations with both Washington and Beijing without limiting their options.
Thailand, a US treaty ally that has deepened economic ties with China, has positioned itself as a neutral bridge-builder — a posture Bangkok now brands "Thai Diplomacy 2.0".
Sihasak also pointed to Thailand's ongoing OECD accession process as evidence of Bangkok's commitment to integrating into the rules-based global economic order.
