Singer attacked on stage at a pub in a Bangkok suburb

A well-known singer was attacked while performing on the stage of a pub in the Rangsit district of Pathum Thani Province on Saturday night.

According to the “Benz Apache” Facebook page, the unknown assailant walked onto the stage and approached singer Jirakorn Sompitak, which a guard attempted to prevent.

The assailant pushed the guard out of his way and attempted to land a punch on Jirakorn, before being subdued and taken off the stage.

Jirakorn later told the media that the assailant appeared to be drunk, but he managed to dodge the punch and he thanked his fans for their concern.

The owner of the pub and Jirakorn’s agent said separately that they will file a complaint with the police in Rangsit.

A video clip of the attack, which was taken by the singer’s wife, went viral on social media, generating criticism of the assault and moral support for the singer.

In late January, a similar incident took place during a concert being held in a restaurant in Chon Buri, when a female fan threw money at the face of the singer on the stage, Joey Phuwasit. The woman later offered an apology via her Facebook page.
