Samut Sakhon records 148 new COVID-19 cases Sunday evening

 148 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Thailand’s coastal province of Samut Sakhon this evening.

At 5pm on Sunday, the provincial health office reported that pro-active screening found 104 Myanmar migrant workers and nine Thais infected with the virus and an additional 21 Thais and 14 migrant workers tested positive for the contagion while in hospitals.

Since December 17th, when the first case in the new wave of COVID-19 was diagnosed in Samut Sakhon, 5,641 infectionshave been recorded. 4,334 cases were found during pro-active screening and the remaining 1,307 were detected in hospitals. 3,464 patients have recovered..

2,175 people remain under treatment, including 384 in hospitals and 1,791 Myanmar migrant workers in quarantine facilities.

So far, 64,694 Thais and Myanmar migrant workers have been tested for the virus. 4,334 were found to be infected (6.69%), including 400 Thais and 3,934 workers from Myanmar.
