Respects paid to school teacher killed by gunman in Khlong Toei

Teachers, students and parents from the Sacred Heart Convention School laid flowers today at the place, near the school, where one of their teachers, Sirada Sinprasert, was killed by a stray bullet during a gun attack on vocational students on Saturday.

A religious ceremony was also held at the school for the teacher, who had taught there for 27 years.

Assistant director for personnel and budgeting affairs at the school, Nathsikarn Manee-in, said that Sirada’s untimely death is a great loss, because she was well liked by her colleagues and students due to her friendliness and generosity.

Security inside and outside the school, located on Sunthorn Kosa Road in Khlong Toei district, has been strengthened since the shooting, with police from the Tha Rua and Thung Mahamek police stations being visiting the school on rotation from 6am until 5 pm.

Lertsak Jamkhlai, the school’s assistant director of administration, said that they also have their own security measures, including screening of all vehicles entering the compound, to make sure that they carry the sticker issued by the school, and parents wait at the school entrance to pick up their children.

During the shooting in which Sirada died, a student from Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-Ok was seriously wounded by the lone gunman, who is believed to attend a rival college.
