Recycling plant in Prachin Buri razed, damage estimated at millions of baht

Recycling plant fire

A recycling plant, owned by Vasansipaphon Trading in Prachin Buri province, caught on fire yesterday afternoon. No fatalities were reported, but the damage is estimated in the tens of millions of baht.

The fire began in a pile of recyclable waste, at the front of the plant, which was waiting to be sorted. High winds blew the sparks into the plant itself and fanned the flames.

After 10 hours, firefighters on more than 20 fire trucks finally contained the blaze and extinguished the fire early morning.

Officials speculate that the fire started due to a buildup of heat and gas inside the pile of waste.
