Record high 15,335 new COVID-19 cases, 129 more deaths on Sunday

COVID-19 infections in Thailand soared to a new high today (Sunday), logging 15,335 cases and 129 more deaths, according to the CCSA.

Of the new infections, 11,759 are locally acquired infections, 641 are among prisoners and 19 were among arrivals from abroad in state quarantine.

Cumulative infections since, April 1st 2021, are 468,439. The death toll is 3,965 and 307,267 have recovered. 158,550 are under treatment in general and field hospitals and, of these, 4,151 are severe cases, including 961 on ventilators. 15,869,844 doses of vaccines were administered since February 28th and July 24th. 

Bangkok today logged 2,700 new cases, followed by 1,081 cases in Samut Sakhon, 1,056 in Samut Prakan, 795 in Chon Buri, 585 in Nonthaburi, 571 in Chachoengsao, 379 in Ayutthaya, 339 in Pathum Thani, 322 in Rayong and 308 in Nakhon Pathom.

Five new clusters were found in a steel equipment factory in Krathum Baen district of Samut Sakhon (127 cases), a poultry processing plant in Phanat Nikhom district of Chon Buri (11 cases), at the Ban Fuangfa welfare home in Pakkred district of Nonthaburi (8 cases), at a car parts factory in Plaeng Yao district of Chachoengsao (22 cases) and at a car parts plant in Pluak Daeng district of Rayong (21 cases).
