Record 16,533 new COVID-19 infections and 133 deaths in Thailand on Wednesday

Daily new COVID-19 infections in Thailand soared to new record high, logging 16,533 cases today (Wednesday), plus 133 deaths, including 5 who died at home, according to the CCSA.

Daily infections in Bangkok also reached a new high of 3,997, whereas 1,147 new cases were reported in Samut Sakhon, 1,088 in Samut Prakan, 864 in Chon Buri, 585 in Kanchanaburi, 520 cases in Nonthaburi, 476 in Nakhon Pathom, 447 in Chachoengsao, 313 in Ubon Ratchathani and 308 cases in Pathum Thani.

More new clusters were reported in Chon Buri, at two construction worker dormitories, in Si Racha and Nong Yai districts, and at an automobile accessories factory in Si Racha district, in Kanchanaburi, at a community in Saen Tor sub-district of Tha Maka district (428 infected), in Pathum Thani, at a construction pile factory in Lam Luk Ka district, in Suphan Buri, at a poultry processing plant in Song Phi Nong district, in Ratchaburi, at a poultry processing plant in Muang district and at a resort in Suan Pung district.

Of the new fatalities reported today, 65 are were men. The victims were aged from 21 to 106. 130 were Thais, 2 were Myanmar citizens and 1 Chinese.

Bangkok logged 45 deaths, followed by 12 cases in Samut Prakan, 10 in Nonthaburi, 9 in Nakhon Pathom, 7 in Samut Sakhon, 6 in Chon Buri, 5 each in Chaiyaphum, Si Sa Ket and Prachin Buri, 4 each in Narathiwat, Pattani, Phetchaburi and Chon Buri, 3 each in Pathum Thani and Kamphaeng Phet, 2 each in Surat Thani, Surin, Suphan Buri and Ratchaburi and 1 each in Narathiwat, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Ranong, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Nong Khai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lampang, Sukhothai, Chachoengsao and Saraburi.

Of today’s new infections, 16,331 are locally transmitted and 202 are among prisoners.

Cumulative infections, since April 1st 2021, are 514,498.  333,268 have recovered and 4,303 have died.  

67,084 are being treated in general hospitals and 111,186 in field hospitals. There are 4,325 severe cases, including 995 cases on ventilators.

Cumulative infections, since early last year, are 543,361 and total death toll is 4,397.

Today, Thailand is 45th in the world, with 543,361 total infections.
