Rain forecast for most parts on Saturday

Most of Thailand, including Bangkok and its peripherals, are forecast to see rain, with isolated heavy downpours today (Saturday) and overnight, due to the moderate south-westerly monsoon prevailing over the country, the Andaman Sea and the Gulf, in conjunction with a low pressure cell over northern Vietnam, according to the Meteorological Department.

Choppy seas are predicted in the northern Andaman Sea, with waves of about two metres high and over two metres in stormy areas. In the Gulf of Thailand, waves are 1-2 metres high as sailors and fishermen are advised to exercise extra caution and to avoid stormy areas.

For northern Thailand, 60% of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit and Tak are forecast to experience rain and isolated heavy showers.

The same applies to Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani provinces in the Northeast.

Only 40% of the central provinces of Kanchanaburi, Uthai Thani, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon will see rain, compared to 60% of Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

60% of the south-western coast, including Ranong, Phang-nga and Satun, will see rain, while 40% of the eastern coast, including Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Pattani and Narathiwat will have rain.
