Protesters camp in front of Government House in defiance of police warning

Defying police warnings of no overnight camping near Government House, anti-establishment protesters announced today that they will stay put until their demands are met by the government.

The demands of the three groups of protesters, who are affiliated with the Ratsadon group include the release of all the Ratsadon core leaders and members remanded in custody, the resignation of the prime minister and his cabinet, the writing of a new constitution with public participation and the abolition of the lèse majesté law.

The protesters, who marched from the Victory and Democracy monuments, have arrived at the Chamaimaruchet Bridge on Phitsanuloke Road, which is close to Government House.

They share space with the Bangkloi ’s Karen villagers, who have been camped there for several days, and pitched tents which they named “Through the Sky” village.
