Prominent Thai protest leaders Parit and Ms. Panasaya released on bail

Thailand’s Appeals Court granted bail to two prominent protest leaders and 19 other protesters today, on the condition that they not do anything to cause unrest, not break the law and they must report to authorities every fortnight.

Among the released protesters, who had been held on remand, most since October 13th, are Parit “Penguin” Chivarak and Ms. Panasaya Sitthijirawattanakul, both prominent protest leaders, as well as Nutchanon Pairote and former rap artist “Ammy”.

The Lawyers for Human Rights Centre said that the bail was set at 20,000 baht each.

Another prominent protest leader, human rights lawyer Anont Nampa, is still being held on remand at a prison in the northern province of Chiang Mai.
