Armed with a search warrant, issued by the Nonthaburi provincial court, Special Branch and Rattanathibet police have raided the anti-establishment Fah Diew Kan printing house and seized many copies of a book called “The Monarchy and Thai Society”, which police claim were intended for distribution to protesters at Sanam Luang on Saturday evening.
The book is a compilation of the speeches about the monarchy given by Arnon Nampa, one of the Ratsadon leaders currently being detained, with others, at the Bangkok remand prison on lèse majesté charges.
Police said they will carefully check the book for any content which is deemed insulting or critical of the monarchy.
Pol Maj-Gen Piya Tavichai, spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said this afternoon that ReDem and FreeArt protesters, as well as Arnon’s Friends, will converge at Sanam Luang this evening.
He warned them that they might face charges for violating a ban on assemblies of more than five people, issued on March 5th.
The police, however, blocked access to Sanam Luang with cargo containers and razor-wire this morning, to prevent the protesters from gaining access to the area.
