State Railways of Thailand (SRT) filed lawsuits today with the Buri Ram court, demanding the revocation of the land title deeds to nine plots in Khao Kradueng, in the Muang district of Buri Ram province, on the grounds that the land, as determined by the Central Administrative Court, belongs to the SRT.
The SRT said that the legal proceedings are being instigated to protect state interests and it is the duty of the claimants of the nine plots to prove to the court that they are the rightful owners of the land in question.
The court proceedings are expected to take about two years, plus another year if the verdicts are appealed.
On Tuesday, the SRT sued two claimants to two plots, title deeds 3466 and 8564, at Khao Kradueng, demanding the revocation of the title deeds on the grounds that the land belongs to the SRT and the title deeds were issued illegally by the Land Department.
Despite the Central Administrative Court’s ruling on March 30, 2023, that all the land at Khao Kradueng, covering about 800 hectares divided into 995 plots, belongs to the SRT, the Land Department has refused to revoke all the titles, prompting the SRT to take the case to court.
The Chidchob family is reported to hold 20 plots, covering 80 hectares, which have been developed into a football stadium, named ‘Chang Arena’, and a motorsports venue, named ‘Chang International Circuit’.
