Public Health Ministry has ordered its office in Phetchaburi province to investigate earnings over the past decade by Senator Dr. Keskamol Pleansamai while working as a skin and beauty specialist at a clinic there.
In her assets declaration, to the National Anti-Corruption Commission after assuming office as a senator, Dr. Keskamol, who graduated with a medical science degree from Rangsit University, declared that she earned about 210,000 baht a year from allowing her name plate as a general medical practitioner to be displayed at the Keskamol clinic in Phetchaburi province since 2014. The name plate was removed last year.
An informed source at the Public Health Ministry said that the Phetchaburi provincial health office is authorised to determine whether Dr. Keskamol had actually worked there and received the earnings as she claimed.
The source explained that a medical doctor can only have their name plate displayed at a clinic if they are is physically there, adding that there won’t be any problem if she had actually been working there.
She could be found to have violated the Hospital Act if it is proved that she allowed her name plate to be hung at the clinic without being there physically, said the source.
Dr. Keskamol has also been accused, by the board of the Medical Council, of violating the Medical Profession Act for publicly describing herself as a skincare specialist without being certified.
