Sarng Anakot Thai Party Leader Uttama Savanayana, party secretary Sontirat Sontijirawong and General Wit Dhephasdin na Ayudhya, leader of Thailand Together Party, formally joined the Palang Pracharath Party today (Monday).
The three arrived at the Palang Pracharath Party HQ this afternoon and were greeted by Wirat Rattanaseth, a deputy leader, and Sakoltee Phattiyakul, the party’s strategy chief for Bangkok. They then went to see the party leader General Prawit Wongsuwan and Santi Promphat, the party secretary-general.
All three donned the party’s jackets and were presented to members of the media, together with General Prawit and Santi.
General Prawit said that Uttama, a former finance minister, and Sontirat, a former energy minister, will help the party in economic affairs, while General Wit will help the party withgeneral affairs.
Uttama, who quit the party in July 2020 together with Sontiratand two others, told the media that the two of them were invited by Prawit to join the party, adding that Prawit has made clear his intention to mobilise people from varioussectors to work together.
As former members, Uttama said he has no conflict with the party and has no problems with other party members.
“We have overcome conflict and are now helping withreconciliation,” said the former finance minister.
Asked whether he can work with Thammanat Prompao of the Thai Economic Party, who was reported to be returning to the Palang Pracharath Party, Uttama said he does not know whether Thammanat will return.
At this point Prawit interjected, telling the media that he does not know when Thammanat will return either and asked the media to ask the man himself.
Regarding former prime minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who was invited to join the Sarng Anakot Thai Party with the potential of being nominated as the party’s candidate for the PM’s Post, Uttama said that he has already discussed his plan to return to Palang Pracharath Party with Somkid.
He claimed that Somkid did not have any objection, as long as they could contribute to helping the country move forward and reduce conflict.
