People’s party MP Chonthicha Jaengrew lost an appeal against a lèse majesté conviction today, when the Appeals Court upheld the two-year prison term imposed by the Criminal Court.
The Appeals Court’s decision was read today by the Thanyaburi provincial court.
Her lèse majesté conviction is related to a remark, deemed to defame the monarchy, that she made during a rally in front of the Thanyaburi court on September 11, 2020, held to demand the release of some political suspects.
After the conviction, she was granted bail.
