People’s Party deputy leader Rangsiman Rome yesterday refuted allegations that the party forced its MP assistants to give up their monthly pay to fund registration fees for new party members.
Rangsiman’s denial came in response to an online claim made by Kla Tham MP for Kamphaeng Phet province, Pai Link.
He explained that the People’s Party has never ordered or coerced its MPs’ assistants to use their salaries to cover registration fees.
He suggested that Pai Link’s allegation might be an attempt to divert public attention from his earlier claim that Kla Tham Party leader Thammanat Prompao is linked to an online scam network.
Pai Link had engaged in a tit-for-tat exchange with People’s Party MP Rukchanok Srinork on social media over her exposure of alleged corruption in the spending of the National Sports Development Fund for the SEA Games.
In one post, Rukchanok urged her fellow MPs who might have information about the alleged corruption to share it on social media, adding that she would help ensure the content received public attention.
Pai Link responded with a post using the hashtag #Rukchanok, questioning whether she was doing it for the people or for the party.
In reply, Rukchanok asked what was wrong with exposing corruption in funding meant for national athletes.
