Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra ranks as the most favoured person to be at the helm of the country, due to her leadership and efforts to address the people’s problems, according to a NIDA Poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration.
Paetongtarn received support from 31.35% of the respondents, followed by People’s party leader Natthapong Ruengpanyawut with 22.90%.
The other favourites are United Thai Nation party leader Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, for his credibility and management experience (8.65%), Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, of Thai Sang Thai party (4.80%), for her capability and experience in administration and her unwavering stance against dictatorship in all forms.
In sixth place was Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul (6%) for his honesty, straightforwardness and friendliness. Seventh is Palang Pracharath party leader Gen Prawit Wongsuwan (1.15%) because of his political experience and decisiveness.
Others include Democrat party leader Chalermchai Sri-on, Chuan Leekpai of the Democrat party, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha of Prachachart party, former Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, Chart Thai Pattana party leader Varawut Silpa-archa, Prachachart party leader Tawee Sodsong and others.
The poll shows most respondents are, however, supportive of the People’s party (34.25%), followed by the Pheu Thai party (27.15%), the United Thai Nation party (9.95%), the Democrat party (4.40%), the Bhumjaithai party (3.55%), the Palang Pracharath party (2.05%) and the Thai Sang Thai party (1.70%).
NIDA Poll gauged the opinions of 2,000 people, aged over 18 with various occupations, incomes and educational backgrounds between September 16th and 23rd.
Suan Dusit Poll, meanwhile, ranks Paetongtarn as most outstanding among leading politicians in September, garnering 51.70% of the votes, followed by Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul (29.94%) and Energy Minister Pirapan (18.36%).
The most outstanding members of the opposition were former Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat (38.43%), People’s party leader Natthaphong (34.10%) and Sirikanya Tansakul, also of the People’s party (27.47%).
The most favoured projects or performances by the government in September were the first disbursement of payments under digital wallet scheme (61.33%), the flood relief operations (21.40%) and the 3-month cooking gas price freeze (17.27%).
The opposition’s outstanding performances were the scrutiny of the 2025 fiscal budget (50.78%), the scrutiny of digital wallet payments (26.56%) and the proposal to tackle the flooding (22.66%).
