The opposition’s modified no-confidence motion was resubmitted today, replacing Thaksin Shinawatra’s name with “a family member.”
As the motion no longer mentions Thaksin by name, as requested by House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, it will be forwarded to Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra for acknowledgment tomorrow.
After that, the motion will be added to parliament’s agenda, tentatively to start on March 24.
In the new motion shown to the media today, the opposition crossed out Thaksin's name with a pen and replaced it with 'a family member' in handwriting.
The first censure debate against Paetongtarn was initially stalled by the opposition’s insistence on stating that the prime minister lacks leadership ability because she is influenced by her father, Thaksin.
Opposition leader, Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, changed course last week, though, agreeing to replace the name with the indirect reference.
