Coalition parties have agreed the government’s policy platform, which is expected to be submitted to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Saturday.
Palang Pracharat secretary-general Sontirat Sontijirawong said today (Friday), after the meeting of 19 coalition parties, that the coalition party policies have been incorporated in the government’s policy package, with remaining fine-tuning to be done on some minor details before the package is passed to the Prime Minister.
The Democrat party was not represented at the meeting today because its policy on constitutional amendments was not one of the meeting’s agenda, said Sontirat adding, however, that the meeting did discuss 10 useful Opposition policies.
He insisted that the government will take into consideration useful ideas or initiatives from all stakeholders, including the Opposition.
Regarding the minimum wage, Sontirat assured that the 400-baht minimum wage would be realized within the life of this government.
Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, meanwhile, told a seminar on “Cannabis for Medical Purposes” today that the party’s policy on the liberalization of cannabis for medical use has been incorporated in the government’s policy package.
“Cannabis will be an alternative choice for Thai people who will have access to medicinal cannabis. Our objective is to help the people, not the business people,” said Anutin, adding that the price of cannabis extracts, which is high at present, will be reduced through state control mechanisms.
Regarding the issue of growing cannabis, he said that each household can grow six plants, but they must be for a medical purpose only and under state control.
