Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul unveiled another outsider joining his Cabinet today. Vorapak Tanyawong, former CEO of the state-run Krung Thai Bank and chief advisor to former finance minister Pichai Chunhavajira, is to be the deputy finance minister.
Anutin said that he has known Vorapak for about 30 years and has no concerns that he used to serve in the Pheu Thai-led administration.
He also said he is glad to have Vorapak working in his government, adding that it will be an advantage because work at the
Finance Ministry can continue seamlessly because of Vorapak’s experience in the previous administration and his active involvement in the tariff talks with the US government.
Meanwhile, Vorapak told the media that he is pleased and honoured to be invited to join the new government, adding that he has 30 years of experience in the capital markets and counts himself lucky for having worked at the Finance Ministry, as an advisor to the former finance minister and now for the new administration.
