The Administrative Court issued a statement explaining that it did not order former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra to pay the state about 10 billion baht in compensation, for the losses incurred from the controversial rice pledging scheme more than a decade ago.
The court referred to Finance Ministry Order 1351/2559, dated October 13, 2016, addressed to Yingluck, instructing her to pay 35.7 billion baht in compensation for the losses. The former prime minister appealed against the order in the Central Administrative Court as being unlawful.
Today, the court explained that it is only empowered to revoke the order in its entirety or partially, but cannot order Yingluck to pay the compensation.
So, as the Supreme Administrative Court has ruled that the Finance Ministry’s order was only partially unlawful, it reduced the amount of compensation due to the Finance Ministry to about 10 billion baht.
