Police say 14 people are thought to have died in serial cyanide poisonings

Fourteen people are believed to have been fatally poisoned by a female Thai suspect being held in custody, 36-year-old “Sararat”, but police are currently only investigating 11 of the cases, according to Pol Col Anek Taosuparb, deputy commander of the Crime Suppression Division (CSD).

Arrest warrants have already been issued in three cases, including the case of a female victim named “Siriporn”, a police officer named “Nipa” and “Rotjarin”, a vegetable vendor.

Pol Col Anek said they are in the process of collecting sufficient evidence to substantiate the other potential cases against the suspect.

CSD officers are to ask the Criminal Court to issue additional warrants against Sararat in eight more cases.

The 11 deaths, mostly women, which are under investigation include:

  • Daranee in 2020
  • Surat in 2021
  • Kanikar in 2021
  • Kanda in 2022
  • Rotjarin in 2022
  • Maneerat in 2022
  • Phusadee in 2022
  • Nipa in 2023
  • Siriporn in 2023

One victim in Kanchanaburi, Kantima, survived the attempt on her life.

A meeting of police officers investigating all the cases is scheduled for tomorrow at the Region 7 Provincial Police Bureau.

Pol Col Anek said he also expects an updated report on the death of the suspect’s former boyfriend.
