PM orders body of key witness in “Boss” to be kept for further examination

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered the body of Mr. Jaruchart Mardthong, a deceased key witness in the Red Bull heir hit-and-run case, to be kept for further examination to determine the exact cause of the death.

Ms. Traisulee Traisoranakul, Deputy Government Spokesperson, said on Sunday that the Prime Minister wants to clear any public suspicion about Mr. Jaruchart’s death, but he will not interfere with course of justice.

She said that the Prime Minister has attached importance to the hit-and-run case and public suspicion over the decision of the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) to drop the case against suspect, Mr. Vorayuth Yoovidhya, heir to the Red Bull empire.

The Prime Minister, Ms. Traisulee added, wants the independent fact-finding committee, headed by former graft buster Mr. Vicha Mahakhun, to perform its duty to the fullest, to uncover the truth about the case.

“The Prime Minister has reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensuring justice in this case, and those who committed wrongdoing must be dealt with accordingly,” she said.

It is reported that the step father and mother of Mr. Jaruchart, Mr. Samarn and Mrs. Da Wangmoon have agreed to return the body to the authorities after completion of religious rites.

Mr. Jaruchart was killed when he apparently collided with another motorbike, being ridden by Mr. Somchai Davino, in Muang district of Chiang Mai province on the night of July 30th.

Somchai earlier told Chiang Mai police that he didn’t know the victim, but police, after having traced their route, by CCTV, to a roadside karaoke bar, found that the two had earlier met at the bar before the accident.

They left the bar together on two motorcycles, heading for another venue in downtown Chiang Mai.
