PM defends the police use of force to quell violent protest – Thai PBS World Tonight [1st March 2021]

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has defended the police’s use of force to quell a violent protest by anti-establishment protesters, in front of the First Infantry Battalion of the First Infantry Regiment of the Royal Guards, in Bangkok’s Bangkhen district, on Sunday night.

He also asked the media to be balanced in their presentation of the protest and not just show the police use of force, but also the provocative acts and violence by the protesters.

He insisted that police did not use excessive force and followed the international standard of crowd control to subdue the violence, after the protesters breached the barricades and entered the restricted area.
