Pita promises equal marriage law before Thailand hosts WorldPride in 2028

Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat has assured members of the LGBTQ community that his party will push for the promulgation of an equal marriage law before Thailand hosts the WorldPride event in 2028.

He offered his assurance as he attended a publicity campaign at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre today (Monday), to promote the Bangkok Pride 2023 event, scheduled to take place on June 4th.

Pita said that the event will not only be held in June, but related activities will be staged on a continuous basis, to create public awareness, not just about gender equality, but also about religious equality.

He said that his government, which is yet to be formed, will work with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to host WorldPride 2028.

This year’s WorldPride event will be held in Sydney, Australia, then in Washington DC in the United States followed by Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

The equal marriage bill is one of 45 that the Move Forward party has incorporated in the memorandum of understanding (MoU), recently signed by the eight coalition parties, to be pushed through parliament by his government.
