A partial solar eclipse will be visible on December 26th from 14 provinces of Thailand, with the best views of the phenomenon will be from Betong district of the southern border province of Yala.
According to the National Astronomical Research Institute, the event can be viewed from:
- Chiang Rai 10.23am to 1.44pm
- Chiang Mai 10.19am to 1.44pm
- Nakhon Sawan 10.19am to 1.53pm
- Bangkok 10.19am to 1.57pm
- Prachuap Khiri Khan 10.16am to 1.58pm
- Khon Kaen 10.29am to 2.01pm
- Nakhon Ratchasima 10.25am to 2.01pm
- Ubon Ratchathani 10.34am to 2.09pm
- Chachoengsao 10.21am to 1.59pm
- Koh Samui 10.16am to 2.01pm
- Phuket 10.11am to 1.57pm
- Songkhla 10.16am to 2.05pm
- Betong district of Yala 10.18am to 2.08pm
- Narathiwat 10.20am to 2.10pm
Four observatories in Mae Rim district of Chiang Mai, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Ratchasima and Songkhla provinces will be open to the public for viewing of the eclipse. In Betong district, the eclipse will reach 81%.
The institute is warning people not watch the event with naked eyes, because looking directly at the sun can cause blindness.
