Paetongtarn Shinawatra gives birth to her second child

Pheu Thai party’s prime ministerial candidate, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, gave birth to her second child this morning (Monday), and said that she will return to the campaign trail as soon as she has recuperated.

The boy has been named Prutthasin Sooksawas, nickname “Thasin”.

Meanwhile, her father, exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin, tweeted a message at 8.14am, saying that he is very happy to have his seventh grandchild, adding that he will be 74 in July and would like to seek permission to return to Thailand to raise his grandchildren.

He ended his message “See you soon.”

A picture of the new-born baby, Paetongtarn and her husband was posted on social media, together with an Instagrammessage which reads “Sawasdee krub, my name is Prutthasin Sooksawas, nickname Thasin. Thanks for the moral support from everyone. In the next couple of days, when Mom regains her strength, she will meet with the media.”

Thaksin was ousted from the office on September 19th, 2006 by then Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin, while he was attending the UN General Assembly in New York.

Throughout his 17 years in exile, he has spent most of his time in Dubai.
