Outgoing PM Prayut congratulates incoming PM Srettha

Outgoing Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha congratulated Srettha Thavisin on Wednesday, who is to become the new prime minister of Thailand.

Speaking after hosting an interim cabinet meeting at Government House, Prayut said “I wish that Srettha achieves in administering the country.”

Prayut said his government will be out of office once the Srettha-led cabinet members swear their oaths before their Majesties.

The next step for Srettha is setting the cabinet list and examining the qualifications of the proposed cabinet members, before submitting the list for Royal approval.

When His Majesty grants approval, a date for the swearing-in ceremony will be set. “Once the new cabinet is sworn in, my government will be out of the office. Everybody should be calm, we respect the rules and democratic procedures,” Prayut said.

Regarding the appointment of high-ranking officials, Prayut said he would do it if it is necessary. If not, the new government will do the job.
