The Opposition will discuss, over the next three months before parliament resumes for a new session, another debate with a vote to be taken after the debate, against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, said Future Forward secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokkul today (Thursday).

Assessing yesterday’s debate in the House, he said he was satisfied with the overall performance of opposition MPs, but was disappointed with the responses from the Prime Minister and cabinet members.

Piyabutr said he was afraid that the Prime Minister had set a bad precedent for future prime ministers regarding the oath recital and kept pressing for an answer from Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngarm about whether taking an oath of allegiance will be preserved as a tradition in the future.

He accused Wissanu of being evasive by replying that the oath taking issue was a matter between the cabinet and the Monarchy.

While insisting that the incomplete oath recital issue is not a big deal and it can be rectified, he accused the Prime Minister of dodging the issue.

The Prime Minister did not respond to opposition MPs’ queries about the oath, claiming he has the right not to respond and, instead, left parliament before the conclusion of the debate to attend a Royal religious ceremony.

Wissanu, meanwhile, said he was satisfied with the overall performance during the debate yesterday, but declined to comment about threatened lawsuits by the Opposition against him and the Prime Minister or the accusation of involving the Monarchy in the oath controversy from opposition chief whip Suthin Klangsaeng.

He clarified that the government could not give the details of the new national budget during the presentation of government policy because there are a lot of details which are contained in the budget bill to be debated in parliament on October 17^th and 18^th.
