Opposition parties plan to grill Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and other cabinet ministers in a debate early next year.

Pheu Thai MP Tasanee Buranupakorn said on Saturday that the party will meet in the New Year to discuss the censure debate in more detail, such as which other ministers will be grilled and on what issues.

She also said that a number of Pheu Thai MPs are keen to take part the censure debate, but the party will make the selection, adding that the sinking of HTMS Sukhothai, with the loss of about 30 crew, will definitely be on the agenda.

No vote will be taken at the debate’s conclusion.

The debate is tentatively slated to take three days, but it may be extended if many MPs take part, said the Chiang Mai MP, adding that it depends on government and opposition whips.

She accused the prime minister of not regarding parliament with sufficient importance, citing his frequent absence from meetings.

The term of the Lower House is due to expire on March 23rd.
