Opposition parties dine together in a show of solidarity

The Democrats joined other opposition parties at a dinner hosted by the Move Forward party last night, in a show of solidarity, working together in and out of parliament to monitor the government’s performance.

The other three opposition parties attending the dinner meeting were Thai Sang Thai, Fair and Thai Teachers for the People.

Move Forward party leader and opposition leader Chaithawat Tulathon said that the opposition parties will hold their first mobile meeting in the north-eastern province of Udon Thani, to meet with the people there and to listen to their problems.

He said that the gathering last night was a chance for all opposition parties to cement their relationships and to work together.

Democrat party leader Chalermchai Sri-on said that he has confidence in the unity of the opposition bloc. He noted that Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan of Thai Sang Thai is the most senior leader among the opposition parties and she will help coordinate the cooperation between them.

Pita Limjaroenrat, chief advisor to the Move Forward party leader told the media that he chose the Thai restaurant “Soei” in Rama VI area because it is not far from parliament, and because it has a famous dish called “tom yum mackerel” which is hot and spicy, adding that the opposition’s performance from now on will also be “hot and spicy”.

He said the opposition comprises both seasoned and new politicians who, combined, will produce an efficient team.
