Thailand has recorded one new COVID-19 case today, among Thai returnees from abroad in state quarantine, according to the CCSA.

The new infection is a 24-year old Thai student, who was studying in the United States and arrived in Thailand on September 22nd, entering state quarantine in Chon Buri province on the same day. He tested positive for COVID-19 three days later.

Cumulative infections in Thailand, to date, are 3,523, including 2,445 locally transmitted cases and 585 imported cases. So far, 3,367 patients have recovered and returned home, with 97 others still undergoing treatment in hospital. The death toll remains 59.

In the southern border province of Songkhla, Malaysia has reopened the Bukitkatyuhitum/Sadao border crossing, to allow Thais living or working in Malaysia to return home.

Malaysia closed the border on September 12th to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Fourteen Thais have registered with the Thai consular office in Malaysia, expressing their wish to return home. They began returning on Saturday. All are required to undergo testing and isolation for 14 days.
