The storm entered Thailand in the Khong Chiam district of Ubon Ratchathani at about 6pm yesterday, causing heavy rainfall in Amnat Charoen, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothon provinces.

In Ubon Ratchathani, 230mm of rainfall has been reported in the past 24 hours in Sirindhorn district and 164.1mm in Sawang Wirawong.

In Khun Han district of Si Sa Ket province, it the public warning siren in the township was sounded for a minute, for the first time in many years, to warn residents of the approaching storm and heavy rain.

The department said it is waiting for more reports of damage from other provinces in the path of the storm, which has weakened to a tropical depression as it heads for Myanmar.

The department also said it has instructed its provincial offices to coordinate with local organisations and the military to arrange manpower and equipment to help flood victims.
