Officials to survey flood-affected households in Lat Krabang

Thailand’s Department of Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation will cooperate with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) in assessing damage to households caused by flooding in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district, so that they can be provided with financial assistance.

Lat Krabang district was declared a flood disaster zone yesterday (Thursday) after the district has been under water for more than a week.

The district contains the sub-districts of Lat Krabang, Khlong Sont Ton Nun, Khlong Sam Prawet, Khum Thong, Thap Yao and Lam Pla Thio.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department is forecasting heavy to very heavy rain for all regions of Thailand from tomorrow until next Wednesday, as the result of a high pressure system from China looming over the Lao PRD and northern Vietnam, pushing the monsoon trough south, over northern, north-eastern and central regions of Thailand.

Bangkok and some central provinces, such as Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri and Saraburi, will face heavy rain from Sunday until next Wednesday.
