No cold weather for Bangkokians this cold season

Bangkokians hoping to have a chance to put on their sweaters during what is supposed to be the cold season will be disappointed because the mercury will not drop any further in the next one month or so.

Some cool breeze for a couple of days is the best they can hope for, according to the Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

All this is a result of the worldwide influence of El Nino which is affecting many countries, including Thailand, it said.

The agency predicted that during November 18-19, a moderate cold front from China will bring some cool breeze to the northern and northeastern regions but the high pressure is not strong enough to spread to the central region and Bangkok.

And there is no indication that throughout the rest of the month after November 19 there will be another cold front strong enough to each the central plains.

People in the northern and northeastern provinces will be relatively luckier than their compatriots in the central region as far as cold weather is concerned  this year.

HAII said the regions will be cool on the flat land but cold on mountain tops, but it will not be as cold as it was during the past two years.
