Nimibutr Stadium becomes first COVID-19 triage centre opened in Bangkok

Thailand’s first COVID-19 triage centre, or pre-admission centre, was opened on Friday, with little fanfare, at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

It will receive the first group of COVID-19 patients who are stranded at home, while waiting to be admitted to hospitals, said CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin.

The triage centre will serve as a processing centre to determine whether patients are to be sent to general hospitals, field hospitals or kept at the triage centre, based on their condition.

Dr. Taweesin said that severe cases will be immediately sent to a general hospital, while asymptomatic or mild cases will remain at the triage centre for observation and treatment, adding that the centre is adequately equipped with medical personnel and equipment to provide treatment.

The centre can be reached on 02-079-1000, which is a call centre set up by AIS.
