The fourth annual Thailand Public Diplomacy Awards, a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation, officially opened for nominations today. The nomination period will last for the next three months.
These annual awards recognise individuals, groups or organizations whose work has significantly contributed to fostering trust, promoting understanding and raising awareness of Thailand, Thai people and Thai culture among the international community. Eligible fields include public interest, humanitarian efforts, culture, sports and innovation.
At a press conference, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nikorndej Balankura, director-general of the Department of Information and spokesperson for the ministry, emphasised that diplomacy extends beyond state-to-state relations. He says that everyday individuals can also serve as diplomats through actions and abilities that bring distinction to Thailand.
"This award not only honors those who have built a strong reputation for Thailand, but also aims at inspiring everyone to realise their own potential in making Thailand known on the global stage," Nikorndej said.
He also hopes that the concept of the award will help expand Thailand’s international fan base and strengthen its connections within the global community. “It will enhance Thailand's presence, visibility, identity and image in the global arena,” he stated.
Likewise, Tharit Charungvat, the secretary-general of the Thailand Foundation, highlighted long term goals for Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Awards, which go beyond recognising past achievements. The aim is for these awardees to inspire future generations.
He added that “We want the new generation to understand that contributing to the nation, the Thai people and Thai identity is not solely the duty of officials or diplomats, but that they too can play a valuable role."
The registration for nominees for the Thailand Public Diplomacy Awards 2025 is now open to individuals of all nationalities. Up to three awards are to be granted this year.
Individuals, groups and organisations are invited to submit nominations, either for themselves or on behalf of others, from April 23rd to July 25th, 2025. For nominations submitted on behalf of others, the consent of the nominee is required.
Following a significant increase in the number of nominations, to 21 last year, up from 9 and 7 entries in the first and second years respectively, organisers are hopeful for even broader participation in this fourth year of the awards.
The growing number of nominations reflects heightened public recognition and engagement, and the organisers encourage a wide range of submissions.

The prizes for the awardees include a trophy, the engraving of their names on the “Goodwill” trophy and the “Wall of Fame”, displayed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Certificate of Honour and a cash prize totalling 300,000 Baht.
The list of awardees will be officially announced by September 2025, with the awards ceremony scheduled for the end of the year.
