The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) incinerated 27 tonnes of illegal narcotics yesterday, including 145 million methamphetamine pills, at a facility in Samut Prakan province.
ONCB Secretary-General Pol Lt-Gen Phanurat Lukboon said that the illegal narcotics were confiscated last year. The consignment also included 7.5 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine (Ice), 500kg of heroin, 1,400kg of ketamine and other narcotics.
He said that the heroin and Ice had been smuggled into Thailand as a transit point, before distribution to other countries.
In 2023, 133 tonnes of illegal narcotics, including 966 million methamphetamine pills, were destroyed.
