The Senate conducted a drill on Sunday, in preparation for today’s meetings, following the fatal tremors experienced in Thailand from the Myanmar earthquake last Friday.
The drill included a water-based evacuation plan.
Senate Vice President Boonsong Noisophon said a team of engineers, from the Engineering Institute of Thailand and the Public Works Department, was invited to inspect the Senate’s buildings on Sunday.
They confirmed that the buildings were unaffected by the quake.
Before starting their meeting today, senators observed a moment of silence, in memory of those who lost their lives in the disaster. Some senators were seen wearing safety helmets during the today's meeting.
