The search for people buried under the debris of the collapsed State Audit Office (SAO) building is expected to conclude this Saturday, after 89 people have been confirmed dead, nine injured and eight remain unaccounted for.
Suriyachai Rawiwan, head of the Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, said today that the total number of people buried under the debris, when the SAO build collapsed on March 28th, has been adjusted from 109 to 106, after relatives of three people, who were earlier reported to be missing, confirmed that they were not at the building site when collapse occurred.

He said the search continues today, even though no remains were found yesterday in Zone A as workers dug deeper into the ground, adding that they were unable to reach the bottom of the building in Zone B because of the limited space and a broken pillar, which may pose a danger to the searchers.
Sniffer dogs were deployed this morning in the search for missing people in Zone B, said Suriyachai, adding that he is optimistic some remains might be found there.
He said that workers will avoid digging near the six lift shafts, for fear that it may damage some of the evidence needed for the ongoing investigation into the exact cause of the collapse.
