Deputy Police Commissioner Kornchai Klayklueng said today that preliminary evidence clearly shows that a police colonel tried to bring a crib sheet into an exam room for an Administrative Court judge position over the weekend.
The evidence indicates an alleged disciplinary violation took place, he said. The examination was being held at Thammasat University’s Rangsit campus and a complaint has already filed at Klong Luang police station.
The suspect, whose name is being withheld, attended the examination for those applying for position as a judge in the Administrative Court of First Instance, on Sunday.
He was sitting in the exam room when the exam started, holding an A4-sized piece of paper with details of laws written on it. From the video footage, he placed the paper in plain sight. The suspect initially resisted an order to leave the room.
Pol Maj Gen Archayon Kraithong, a police spokesman, said that the officer in question, a commander of the Provincial Police Region 8, has been transferred to the Fourth Region of the Internal Security Operations Command, pending the outcome of an investigation.
Archayon said that Commissioner Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet has ordered that the matter be taken very seriously, as police have a duty to uphold justice and fairness and set a good example, but the suspect allegedly cheated in an effort to become a judge.
