Most Thai people do not want entertainment complexes with casinos or the legalisation of online gambling, according to an opinion poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).
NIDA Poll said today that it conducted a multi-stage sampling survey, which it claims to be 97% reliable, on January 20th and 21st by interviewing 1,310 people who are over 18 and from various educational and occupational backgrounds.
The survey shows that 59.16% of the respondents disagree with the entertainment complex project, against 28.93% who agree with it. 8.63% agree with just an entertainment complex but without a casino and only 1.60% agree with just the casino. 1.68% had no opinion.
On the legalisation of online gambling, 58.12% disagree, 19.92% agree, 11.45% say they somewhat agree and 10.31% say they somewhat disagree.
The survey shows that 51.07% disagree on an entertainment complex with a casino and legalisation of online gambling, while 37.96% agree.
5.11% agree with the idea of a referendum on both an entertainment complex with a casino and legalisation of online gambling. 3.89% agree with a referendum on online gambling alone.
