A man who fell into a construction ditch in front of the Royal Thai Police Sports Club on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road was found dead on Friday evening, prompting an investigation to determine his identity and cause of death.
Volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and rescue divers retrieved the body from the 1.5-metre-deep canal after a motorcycle taxi driver reported seeing a man fall into the water.
Investigators from Thung Song Hong Police Station and forensic medics from the Police General Hospital were called to inspect the scene.
The deceased, who was shirtless, was discovered with fishing line wrapped around his body. Police said no identification documents or personal valuables were found on him.
The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for identification and autopsy before officers attempt to contact his relatives.
The incident occurred at the site of a local road under construction, connecting Vibhavadi Rangsit and Phahonyothin roads. The project, which involves drainage system development and landscape improvements along Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, is being overseen by the Department of Highways.
