India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation, via an X post, to Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra for organising the Amazing Thailand Diwali Festival 2024 on Phahurat Road, known as Bangkok’s ‘Little India’, between October 28th and November 3rd.
Modi sent his best wishes for the festival, emphasising the deep bond between Thailand and India, writing “Delighted by PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s gesture. My best wishes for the Amazing Thailand Diwali Festival. May it deepen the cultural bonds between India and Thailand.”
He tagged @ingshin, which is Paetongtarn’s X account.
Paetongtarn presided over the launch of the festival to celebrate Diwali among the Thai-Indian community, as well as Thailand and India’s 77th year of bilateral relations.
The festival is being held along the banks of the Ong Ang Canal, between Chinatown and Phahurat road.
It runs from 4pm to 10pm each day and features Bollywood performances, as well as Indian food and clothes street stalls.
