Thirty-eight people died and 257 others were injured in 269 road accidents on the second day of the New Year holidays, bringing total deaths and injuries over two days to 93 and 575 respectively in 592 road accidents, according to the Directorate to Prevent and Reduce Road Accidents.
38.29% of the accidents yesterday were caused by speeding, 21.56% by poor visibility and 19.33% by cutting in. Motorcycles were involved in 85.4% of all the accidents.
Ayutthaya and Chiang Rai provinces claimed the most accidents of all provinces, with 13 in each. The most deaths yesterday were in Phang-nga and Nong Bua Lamphu, with three in each.
