The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is waiving tolls on three major expressway routes today, in observance of the Royal Ploughing Ceremony.
The waiver, which remains in effect until midnight, applies to the following routes:
· Chaloem Maha Nakhon Expressway: 21 plazas (covering Din Daeng, Bang Na and Dao Khanong)
· Si Rat Expressway: 32 plazas (covering Chaeng Wattana, Bang Khlo and Srinagarindra)
· Udon Ratthaya Expressway: 10 plazas (covering Bang Pa-in and Pak Kret)
According to EXAT, the move follows a government’s policy outlined in the revised concession agreements between the authority and the Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc (BEM), as well as the Northern Bangkok Expressway Co (NECL).
The initiative aims to facilitate public travel during the national holiday, reduce the financial burden on commuters and mitigate traffic congestion at toll booths.
