The central committee tasked with organising the Department of Local Administration’s (DLA) recruitment examination last year has decided to revoke the announcement of attendees who passed the test, according to Interior Permanent Secretary Unsit Sampuntharat.
He said that central committee has reviewed the score sheets of 279,000 examinees, out of a total 400,000, and found that the sheets of 5,924 had been tampered with, adding that he will approve the committee’s decision to revoke the announcement next week, after which a new announcement will be issued by the committee chairman, Wanchai Chanporn.
Unsit explained that the revocation of the previous announcement means that the names of all 5,924 examinees, whose score sheets were found to have been tampered with, will be dropped from the new list.
The interior permanent secretary also said that the DLA will formally file a complaint with the police against those responsible for organising the exam and those who were in charge of presenting test results to the central committee.
Asked whether any members of the central committee will face legal action, Unsit said that some of them are being investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Commission, adding that most of the altered score sheets belong to examinees in southern provinces.
Meanwhile, Srinakharinwirot University issued an announcement yesterday, setting up a panel to consider disciplinary action after one of its staffers was found to have been involved in the recruitment exam scam by a fact-finding committee.
The university said that the disciplinary probe is part of the legal process, intended to gather evidence pertaining to the case and to open an opportunity for the accused to present evidence in their defence.
The university maintains that the accused is not guilty of a disciplinary violation until the panel has proven otherwise, adding that the exam scam has affected the image of the university and public trust in it.
