New COVID-19 cluster in Pathum Thani, 53 new cases linked to butcher’s shop

A new cluster of 53 COVID-19 infections have been linked to a pork butcher’s shop in Pornpat market in Pathum Thani, according to the Public Health ministry.

The Department of Disease Control say that this new cluster has connections with Pornpat and Suchart markets. Most of the infected so far are migrant workers, most aged between 30 and 39.

The shop is now temporarily closed. The spread of infections in the shop is thought to be due to a lack of distancing between people working there.

Pathum Thani has seen a total of 664 infections in the latest outbreak, mostly among people of working age, and more than half are Thai vendors at the markets.
