Myanmar people in Thailand protest against coup – Thai PBS World Tonight [22nd February 2021]

People from Myanmar living in Thailand gathered in front of the UN office in Bangkok, as part of the “22222 Revolution” being held in their homeland, when all Myanmar workers are going on strike in protest against the country’s recent military coup.

Many said that the situation in their home country is getting worse, as authorities use excessive force against protesters, leading to many injuries and three deaths so far. The protesters in Bangkok are demanding that the UN intervene and help ease the situation in Myanmar.

They are also demanding the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and a return of democracy to Myanmar.

Some protesters told Thai PBS that many Myanmar people will continue to protest in their country and will not seek refuge elsewhere, although the military is still using excessive force against them to cause chaos during the demonstrations.
