Move Forward’s uncompromising stand on some policies its main mistake – NIDA Poll

The reason behind the Move Forward party’s lack of success in forming a government of the eight coalition parties is its refusal to scrap some of its policies, according to 42.98% of the respondents to the latest opinion poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).

30.46% of the respondents, however, thought otherwise, believing that the party has not committed any mistakes.

Nida Poll gauged the opinions of 1,310 people, aged 18 and, of various occupations, educational backgrounds and earnings between July 24th and 26th.

The poll also shows that 27.56% believe that the Move Forward party is inexperienced in parliamentary politics, while 11.68% believe the party disassociates itself from the other parties and, therefore, does not have many political allies. 10.23% say the party does not understand the culture and realities of Thai politics and 9.54% say the party was careless in nominating Pita Limjaroenrat as the party’s sole prime ministerial candidate when it failed to check his qualifications properly.

Other findings show that 7.94% of the respondents believe the party has made many political enemies, 7.86% believe that the behaviour of party supporters has deprived it of support in parliament and 6.11% maintain that the party is too obsessed with the 14 million votes it received in the May 14th general election.

Regarding political protests by party’s supporters, 35.19% of the respondents believe there will be mass protests but that they will be manageable, 24.81% believe protests will be minor and manageable. On the other hand, 23.66% believe there will be mass protests which will be uncontrollable and 11.99% believe there will be no protests.

Responding to the question “In the next general election, will there be more parties similar to Move Forward which are more compromising?” 35.88% of the respondents are positive that there will be more such parties, while 19.54% dismiss such possibility.
